Four people died off the coast of northern France after attempting to board a water taxi to cross the English Channel. The incident occurred near Plage Sud d'Équihen, south of Boulogne-sur-Mer in Pas-de-Calais, with rescue efforts beginning at first light around 07:30 local time. The four were two men and two women who were said to have 'tried to board a water taxi' and were swept away by currents described as dangerous. Thirty-eight people were rescued, three of whom were treated as emergencies by authorities, including two children taken to hospital as a precaution. The boat continued its journey toward the UK, carrying around 30 people.
