Commercial LPG Prices Hike: Delhi and Kolkata See Rates Surge Again
Commercial LPG prices hit a new high as rates jump by up to Rs 53.50 in major cities. Find out how much a 19kg cylinder costs in your city starting today.
Commercial gas consumers are starting the month of June with a pinch in their pockets. Oil marketing companies have announced a significant hike in the prices of commercial LPG cylinders, marking the fifth increase in just four months. The new rates, which came into effect today, June 1, see prices rising by as much as Rs 53.50 depending on the city.
In the national capital, Delhi, the price of a 19 kg commercial cylinder has been hiked by Rs 42, bringing the total cost to Rs 3,113.50. Kolkata has been hit even harder, with a jump of Rs 53.50, taking the price to Rs 3,255.50. Other major metros like Mumbai and Chennai have also seen similar upward adjustments. Even the smaller 5 kg cylinders haven't been spared, seeing an increase of Rs 11.
While the news is tough for businesses and the hospitality sector, there is a small sigh of relief for households. The prices for domestic 14.2 kg LPG cylinders remain unchanged at Rs 913 in Delhi. This stability in domestic rates comes as a crucial buffer for middle-class families already dealing with rising costs of living.
The hike isn't limited to gas alone. Petrol and diesel prices continue to hover at high levels across the country. In Delhi, petrol has crossed the century mark, currently costing Rs 102.12 per litre, while diesel is priced at Rs 95.20 per litre. These increases are largely attributed to global supply disruptions, particularly those triggered by ongoing conflicts in the Middle East.
Market experts are keeping a close eye on Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) like BPCL, HPCL, and IOC. Despite these hikes, analysts suggest that cumulative LPG losses for India’s three major OMCs remain significant, estimated at approximately Rs 19,400 crore for FY26. This financial pressure is likely what is driving the frequent price corrections we are seeing at the start of every month.
