Bihar’s Bharatiya Janata Party unit on Saturday suspended former union minister R K Singh and BJP MLC Ashok Agarwal from the party for anti-party activities. The official move was described as necessary to maintain discipline within the organisation, and both leaders have been asked to clarify their stance within a week. The action comes a day after the NDA secured a majority in Bihar, signaling a tightening of party discipline in the wake of the electoral win.
R K Singh, a former BJP MP from Ara, had been vocal during the campaign and is said to have raised serious criticisms of party leadership. Ashok Agarwal’s son had contested from Katihar on a Vikassheel Insaan Party ticket, highlighting ongoing cross-alliances in Bihar politics.
Party sources emphasised that suspensions are aimed at enforcing loyalty and discipline ahead of future campaigns, even as explanations from the leaders are awaited.
