Cabinet OKs ₹25,060 Cr Export Promotion Mission to Boost Exports

The Union Cabinet has approved a ₹25,060 crore Export Promotion Mission to strengthen India's export competitiveness. The plan, spanning FY 2025–26 to FY 2030–31, bundles several schemes into a single, outcome-oriented framework and includes two key components: Niryat Protsahan for affordable trade finance and Niryat Disha for branding, compliance, logistics and market readiness. The Cabinet also cleared ₹20,000 crore to expand the credit guarantee scheme, enabling collateral-free credit for MSMEs and non-MSME exporters.

Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Cabinet minister, said progress in India-US trade talks has been factored into the decision, and the mission is designed to unlock liquidity, support diversification, and keep India on track for its $1 trillion export target despite global disruptions and US punitive tariffs.

The Export Promotion Mission aims to replace multiple fragmented schemes with a comprehensive, digitally driven framework that emphasizes branding, compliance, logistics and market readiness. This reform is intended to create a more predictable financing and compliance environment, helping exporters scale operations and access new markets.

By focusing on streamlined processes and targeted support for both MSMEs and non-MSME exporters, the government hopes to bolster export competitiveness, strengthen resilience against global headwinds, and accelerate India’s integration into global supply chains.
