Pulp's Epic Journey: New Film & Live Album Set to Drop!

Iconic Britpop band Pulp is set to captivate audiences once again with a brand new concert film titled "Pulp: What Do You Do For An Encore?", alongside an accompanying live album, "Live!". This exciting announcement comes with acclaimed director Garth Jennings at the helm, known for "Sing" and "The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy", and the film narrated by none other than frontman Jarvis Cocker.

The 90-minute documentary promises to delve into Pulp’s remarkable journey from "obscurity to cultural touchstone." It will feature a rich selection of 20 songs from their extensive catalog, including both beloved hits and deep cuts. Fans can also look forward to never-before-seen footage from the band’s June 2025 concert at London's O2 Arena, a pivotal stop on their global tour supporting their recent album, "MORE".

Garth Jennings' connection with Pulp runs deep, dating back to 1997 when he directed the promo video for their song "Help the Aged." The film is described in the official press release as "a vibrant tribute to a band of brilliant misfits, whose unique blend of irony, rebellion, and razor-sharp social commentary resonated with generations of listeners and helped define an era of British culture."

Complementing the film, the live album "Live!" will serve as its official soundtrack. Jarvis Cocker shared his thoughts on the album's title, stating, "A concert is an event where songs come back to life. That’s why this album is called Live! It’s both a statement of fact (it’s a recording of a live band) & a challenge (come on! Everyone come alive!)." The "Live!" album is slated for release on August 28th, 2026, and is available for pre-order now. The film "What Do You Do For An Encore?" will be available exclusively on MUBI this fall, with its exact release date yet to be announced.
