Yotta and Nvidia plan a major expansion of India's AI GPU capacity as AI adoption accelerates, with 10,000 GPUs already deployed and more to come.
India AI Impact Summit 2026 is shaping up to be a landmark for computing in the country as Yotta Data Services and Nvidia prepare a significant expansion of AI computing capacity. Yotta Chief Executive Sunil Gupta said on the panel that, in the next couple of days, listeners will hear a big announcement from both Yotta and Nvidia on how they are scaling GPU capacity multifold. Gupta noted that nearly 10,000 GPUs have already been deployed over the past two years, and the push now aims to ensure India never faces shortages as AI adoption grows. “We want to make sure that when India’s use cases start getting into production, India is never short of GPU supply. The compute layer will always be available,” he said. The planned expansion comes as India looks to position itself as a major consumer and global hub for AI services, backed by government initiatives and rising private investment in data centres. The effort aligns with a broader push to accelerate domestic AI capabilities and to bring down costs as services mature and adoption scales, potentially triggering transformative effects across sectors.
The India AI Impact Summit is being hosted at Bharat Mandapam and other venues in New Delhi, drawing high-profile participation from the technology and policy world. The five-day event is expected to feature more than 40 CEOs, 20 heads of state, and discussions linked to nearly $100 billion in prospective investments, underscoring the scale at which India aims to accelerate AI-driven growth. As the industry looks ahead, the GPU expansion could provide the backbone for faster training and deployment of AI models, helping Indian enterprises, researchers, and government programs alike accelerate real-world AI applications.
Gupta emphasized that the tipping point for widespread AI adoption comes when users get the best output at the lowest price. With the new capacity, India hopes to shorten lead times and improve access to advanced computing resources, enabling a broader set of use cases—from governance and healthcare to education and industry—while keeping India’s edge in the global AI race.
