MP Nitin Nabin Donates Salary to Bihar Flood Relief Fund!

In a significant gesture of support, Rajya Sabha MP and BJP National President Nitin Nabin on Friday, September 18, 2026, announced a donation of three months of his salary to the Bihar Chief Minister's Relief Fund. This generous contribution, totaling ₹6.35 lakh, is aimed at assisting the victims of the recent severe floods that have ravaged the state.

The floods, triggered by heavy rains and flash floods from rivers originating in neighboring Nepal, have impacted an estimated 50 lakh people across 15 districts of Bihar this year. The disaster has caused extensive damage to life, property, crop production, and even livestock, prompting widespread concern.

Mr. Nabin, a five-time BJP MLA from the Bankipur constituency in Patna, emphasized the government's commitment, stating, “The entire government stands firmly with the people during this crisis.” He assured that despite his personal contribution,

all possible assistance is being provided to the affected families through financial aid, relief camps and assessment of crop damage.

The State government has already made substantial efforts in relief operations. Mr. Nabin noted that ₹550 crore has been distributed as direct financial assistance, with ₹7,000 transferred to each flood-affected family. The process of assessing crop damage and providing necessary aid to farmers is also actively underway.

More than 1,000 community kitchens and several relief camps have been established, with teams from both National and State Disaster Response Forces engaged in rescue and relief missions.

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan recently visited the flood-affected districts alongside Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary and other senior state officials to assess the damage. Minister Chouhan vowed to advocate for adequate central relief, telling media,

Flood in Bihar this time has made extensive damage… and I would talk to the central government for adequate relief.

CM Choudhary himself had conducted multiple aerial surveys to monitor and accelerate relief and rescue operations.

In a positive development, floodwaters in major rivers like Ganga, Gandak, and Kosi have begun receding at several locations, including Patna district, offering much-needed relief to the affected population.
