Obama Returns to UK: What's Next for America?

Former US President Barack Obama is set to embark on a highly anticipated tour of the United Kingdom this autumn, engaging audiences in three major cities to discuss a pressing question: “what comes next for America?” The 64-year-old statesman will host events titled “An Evening With President Barack Obama” in Belfast, Glasgow, and Manchester.

His itinerary includes a stop at The O2 in Belfast on October 13, followed by Glasgow’s Ovo Hydro on October 14, and concluding at Manchester’s Co-op Live on October 15. These appearances follow his previous successful engagements, including a talk at The O2 in London last September and a planned event in Dublin in 2025. Organizers have indicated that Mr. Obama will share his perspectives on the future direction of the United States and its implications globally.

During his previous UK visit, Mr. Obama made headlines when he criticized his successor, Donald Trump, for what he termed “violence against the truth.” Specifically, he addressed Trump's unproven claims linking painkiller Tylenol with autism, stating that such assertions “undermine public health.” He emphasized that "We have the spectacle of my successor making broad claims around certain drugs and autism that have been continuously disproved. All of that is violence against the truth."

Since concluding his two-term presidency in 2017, Mr. Obama, alongside his wife Michelle, has remained active, notably signing a deal with Netflix. Through their Higher Ground Productions company, they produce a range of documentaries, series, and features for the streaming platform, continuing their public engagement through new mediums.
