The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday, June 25, 2026, announced a significant organizational reshuffle for its Uttar Pradesh unit. This major overhaul aims to strengthen the party's machinery and expand its social outreach in anticipation of the crucial 2027 Assembly elections.
According to the list released by State BJP president Pankaj Chaudhary, the party has appointed 19 vice-presidents and eight general secretaries. Additionally, a noteworthy move includes the appointment of nineteen sitting State Ministers as office bearers, integrating governmental and party roles more closely. The restructuring also saw the replacement of all six regional presidents, a key change to revitalize leadership at the grassroots level.
Among the new regional presidents are Nawab Singh Nagar for west Uttar Pradesh, Puran Lal Lodhi for Braj, Ram Kishore Sahu for Kanpur, Avadhesh Dwivedi for Awadh, Ashok Chaurasia for Kashi, and Vinod Rai for Gorakhpur. The party also retained Manish Dixit as the state media coordinator for his fourth consecutive term, indicating continuity in media strategy. Dinesh Pratap Singh has been named chief spokesperson, while Himanshu Raj Pandit will take on the role of state social media coordinator, emphasizing the party's focus on modern communication channels.
Party leaders indicated that these decisions followed extensive consultations involving Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, senior State leaders, and the central leadership, highlighting a concerted effort from the top echelons. While the BJP is gearing up, opposition leader Akhilesh Yadav of the Samajwadi Party has already reacted to the political developments, stating that the public will "thrash BJP" in the next elections, especially citing issues like power disruptions. This sets the stage for an intense political contest leading up to the 2027 polls, with the BJP's new team tasked with bolstering the party's position across the state.
