Strictly Shocker! Delta Goodrem Dazzles, Tops Leaderboard Again!
Australian star Delta Goodrem dazzles judges with a record-breaking salsa on Strictly Come Dancing! Get all the scores, highlights, and find out who's facing the dance-off this week. Don't miss the drama!
The Glitterball Trophy battle intensified dramatically on Saturday night as the remaining 14 couples took to the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom. Following last week's first public vote, which saw celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton and professional partner Amy Dowden exit, the pressure was certainly on!
Contestants performed a vibrant array of routines, including the salsa, samba, waltz, and Cha Cha Cha, all hoping to impress the judges and steer clear of the dreaded dance-off set for Sunday evening.
Australian singer Delta Goodrem, alongside her professional partner Kai Widdrington, absolutely soared to the top of the leaderboard.
Their dazzling salsa earned them an impressive 33 points.
Not only was this the highest score of the night, but it also marked the top score of the series so far!
Judges were clearly captivated, with Anton Du Beke remarking that the former Neighbours actor was “setting a very high bar” this season, and Craig Revel Horwood simply calling her performance “amazing.” This marks their second consecutive week topping the leaderboard, showcasing their incredible consistency.
Close behind were Tabby Stoecker, the British and Olympic skeleton racer, and her dance partner Mark Karmalita, who secured 31 points for their powerful tango. Graeme Hall and Lauren Oakley, who were second last week, scored 25 for their jive, while YouTuber John Nellis and Katya Jones received 20 for their Cha Cha Cha.
Former football star Shaun Wright-Phillips, known for his time with London clubs Chelsea and QPR, and Alexis Warr faced a tougher night, scoring just 15 points, placing them at the bottom of the rankings. Despite the low score for his quickstep, Anton Du Beke offered encouragement, telling Wright-Phillips he had “all the components to be a super, super dancer.”
Gavin and Stacey actress Melanie Walters and Aljaž Škorjanec narrowly avoided being at the very bottom for a second week in a row, scoring 17 points, a slight improvement on their last showing.
Now, the fate of the couples lies partially in the public's hands, as their votes will decide who lands in the bottom two for Sunday's dance-off. Judges Shirley Ballas, Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood, and Anton Du Beke will then decide which couple to save.
In a tie, Anton Du Beke will have the deciding vote.
Be sure to tune in to BBC One at 7:10 pm on Sunday to catch all the drama!
