Singer Jesy Nelson has appealed for help after her car was stolen from her Brentwood driveway in the early hours of Sunday. The black Land Rover Defender, registration JJ73SSY, reportedly contained hospital equipment used to treat her twins, Ocean Jade and Story Monroe Nelson, who have been diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). Nelson posted an Instagram message offering a £10,000 reward for information leading to the vehicle’s recovery and asked anyone with details to DM her or contact the police. She stressed how essential the equipment inside the car is for her daughters’ care. The incident occurred around 03:00 BST, prompting Nelson to highlight the impact of the loss on her family’s health routine. The 34-year-old has recently spoken about progress toward SMA screenings in the UK, celebrating planned rollout from October 2026 and launching a petition to include SMA screening in newborn tests. She has previously cried as the petition surpassed 100,000 signatures. Essex Police confirmed they were assisting with inquiries but could not comment further on the theft. Nelson’s case has drawn attention to the vulnerability of families relying on portable medical equipment and the ongoing advocacy for newborn SMA screening.
