Did 'Dhurandhar 2' Leak Secrets? Delhi High Court Steps In Over Military Safety

The buzz around Ranveer Singh’s latest blockbuster, ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’, has shifted from the box office to the courtroom. While audiences have been debating whether the film is a patriotic masterpiece or a propaganda vehicle, the Delhi High Court is now looking into much more serious allegations. A Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has claimed that the movie might have compromised the safety of Indian intelligence agents by revealing sensitive tactical information.

The petition, filed by an official from the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), alleges that the film violates the Official Secrets Act of 1923. According to the plea, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ goes a bit too far in depicting tactical operations and undercover locations in depth. The petitioner even suggested that the film’s detailed portrayal could have put agents on the ground in places like Karachi on high alert, potentially endangering real-life operations and national security.

In response, the Delhi High Court bench, led by Chief Justice DK Upadhyaya, has directed the Central Government and the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) to take these concerns seriously. The court noted that the petition wasn't just baseless talk and had enough material to warrant a review. “The Censor Board should have some guidelines,” the bench remarked, suggesting that even fictional entertainment needs to be careful when dealing with national security.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film follows the high-stakes journey of an undercover agent infiltrating Pakistan. While it has been a massive hit, this legal hurdle brings up a big question: where do we draw the line between cinematic storytelling and national security? For now, the ball is in the Centre’s court to decide if the film’s 'behind-the-scenes' look at intelligence work revealed more than it should have.
