A Los Angeles courtroom heard shocking new evidence on Friday, indicating that singer D4vd, born David Anthony Burke, had impregnated Celeste Rivas Hernandez, the teenager he is accused of fatally stabbing. Text messages presented in court reveal that Rivas Hernandez, who was 13 at the time, later underwent an abortion.
According to the messages, Burke apologized to Rivas Hernandez in January 2024 for "putting her through this." Rivas Hernandez's reply underscored the difficult situation: "Neither of us are capable of watching and taking care of the baby. it"s for the best no?" At the time of this exchange, she was just 13 years old.
This revelation came on the fourth day of a crucial preliminary hearing, which aims to determine if the musician will stand trial for murder and child sexual abuse charges connected to Rivas Hernandez's death. Burke has pleaded not guilty to all charges.
Prosecutors allege that Burke fatally stabbed Rivas Hernandez in April 2025, when she was 14, in an attempt to silence her from revealing the sexual nature of their relationship, particularly as his career began to flourish. Prosecutors claim that the sexual abuse began when he was 18 and she was 13.
The abortion appeared to have significantly impacted Rivas Hernandez. In an August 2024 text to Burke, she wrote, "I care abt u i killed my kid [for] you." She further expressed her distress, stating, "i don"t like talking about it cause it gets [me really] upset but ". The hearing continues as the court examines the extensive evidence presented.
