Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, just 15, produced a sensational innings for Rajasthan Royals, blasting 37 balls to 103 and powering RR to 228/6 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Jaipur. He began with a jaw‑dropping start, hammering four consecutive sixes in the very first over off Praful Hinge, and then clobbered a six off the very first ball he faced from Pat Cummins. The fiery opening set the tone for a record‑setting cameo and left the stadium buzzing with talk of a rare talent at such a young age.
Cummins stressed that a bowler has to be right on the money against Sooryavanshi, or the youngster can make you pay. He added that Sooryavanshi is impressive and has had a great start to his career, and that he likes the way he plays.
Sooryavanshi said there wasn't a fixed plan to hit the first ball; there had been a discussion before the match with Yashasvi Jaiswal about playing freely. He explained that if the opportunity came from the first ball, they should back their game, and he simply played the ball on merit.
