Dollywood to Honor Dolly Parton with New Attractions After Her Passing

Dollywood, the beloved theme park nestled in the Great Smoky Mountains, has announced touching plans to honor its "dreamer-in-chief," Dolly Parton, following her recent passing at the age of 80. Park officials, speaking at a press conference, detailed several new attractions and experiences designed to celebrate the iconic singer-songwriter's life and enduring legacy.

Among the new additions will be a character called the Dream Maker, directly inspired by Parton's renowned Imagination Library, an initiative that has gifted millions of books to children worldwide. The park's chapel will also receive a thoughtful makeover, featuring a new waterfall and stained glass windows that reflect Parton's deep and unwavering faith. Visitors will also have new ways to personally connect with Parton's memory.

Designated kiosks throughout the park will allow guests to leave their own messages and tributes to the legendary artist.

Further enhancements are slated for The Dolly Parton Experience, a multi-building exhibit already dedicated to her extraordinary life and career. Beyond the park gates, the city of Sevierville, where Parton grew up, is also stepping up its efforts to immortalize her impact.

Markers will be installed across the city to establish a self-guided walking tour, guiding fans through locations that held significant meaning for the singer, actor, and philanthropist throughout her life. Dolly Parton's family announced her passing in an emotional Instagram video on August 25, with her representatives later confirming she died following a brief battle with cancer.

She was laid to rest at a private funeral, in line with her wishes, at Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum in Nashville, where she was buried beside her husband of 60 years, Carl Dean, who passed in March 2025.

Her niece, Lainey Parton, shared a touching tribute, highlighting Dolly's gift for making everyone feel valued and encouraging their dreams.

Dolly Parton's vision transformed Dollywood into Sevier County's largest employer and a major tourist destination, and these new initiatives ensure her spirit will continue to inspire generations to come.
