A Delhi Police head constable was arrested after his girlfriend shot herself with his service pistol at a Greater Noida West high-rise, with investigators probing the couple's long relationship and surrounding events.
Greater Noida West woke up to a troubling morning as a 34-year-old woman reportedly shot herself with a Delhi Police head constable's service pistol at her high-rise apartment. The woman, a Meerut resident, is currently on a ventilator. The head constable, a married officer from Ghaziabad, had been in a relationship with the woman for six to seven years and they had married recently in Haridwar. They had been living together for three to four months with four to five friends present earlier that night, when a dispute erupted after a call from the constable's wife around 1 am. The woman locked herself in another room and fired the pistol. The constable and his friends hurried her to a private hospital, and he later left the hospital before being arrested with help from electronic surveillance. Authorities say the incident is being probed from all angles, but prima facie it appears to be a suicide. A case has been registered, and the weapon has been seized, with further investigations underway.
