London, UK, Tottenham Hotspur are making a massive statement in the transfer market, agreeing an £85 million deal with Manchester City for Brazilian winger Savinho. This blockbuster signing is set to catapult Spurs' summer spending beyond the £300 million mark, signaling an ambitious overhaul under manager Roberto De Zerbi. The fee for Savinho comprises a guaranteed £75 million, with an additional £10 million in potential add-ons, ensuring Manchester City will pocket at least £80 million.
This deal marks a significant moment for both clubs; for Manchester City, Savinho becomes their club record sale, generating substantial profit from a player they acquired from their sister club Troyes for just £30.8 million in 2024. While Savinho never played for Troyes, his impressive loan spell at Girona, another City Football Group affiliate, where he helped them qualify for the Champions League, significantly boosted his value. Despite scoring seven goals in 84 games for City, with only two in the Premier League, his talent clearly caught De Zerbi's eye.
Savinho's arrival makes him one of Tottenham's three most expensive players ever, joining a string of high-profile acquisitions this summer. These include Mateus Fernandes, who arrived from West Ham in an £85 million move, and Sandro Tonali, a £100 million transfer from Newcastle. Spurs have also bolstered their defense with Jan Paul van Hecke from Brighton for £52 million and brought in experienced free agents Martin Dubravka, Andy Robertson, and Marcos Senesi.
The north London club's spending spree might not be over yet. Spurs are reportedly in talks for another Manchester City attacker, Omar Marmoush, who City acquired for £59 million in January 2025. If that deal materializes, Tottenham's total expenditure could soar towards an astonishing £400 million, underlining their intent to compete at the highest level. Meanwhile, Manchester City are already eyeing Palmeiras winger Allan as a potential replacement for Savinho, as they continue to reshape their squad. Savinho's sale alone contributes significantly to City's summer transfer income, which is now expected to reach around £235 million, boosted by previous sales of Rodri, Tijjani Reijnders, Nathan Ake, and James Trafford.
