Indian markets opened higher with Nifty crossing 25,650 and Sensex up over 300 points, while the rupee firmed to 88.62 per dollar in early trade.
Indian stock markets opened in the green on Thursday, with broad optimism driving gains across sectors. Nifty50 surged past 25,650, and the benchmark BSE Sensex climbed more than 300 points in early trading, signaling renewed appetite from domestic and foreign funds.
At the time of reporting, Sensex was around 83,781, up about 322 points, while Nifty stood near 25,655, up roughly 57 points. The breadth of the rally suggested gains across financials, IT and consumer stocks, though investors will keep an eye on global cues and upcoming macro data.
On the currency front, the rupee inched higher, rising 8 paise to trade at around 88.62 against the U.S. dollar in early trade, aided by firmer domestic equities and softer oil prices.
Market watchers say the session could set the tone for the rest of the week as traders reassess valuations and await fresh data. While volatility remains a possibility, the current upmove reflects a cautious but positive sentiment in Indian equities.
