DMDK Denies Simultaneous Talks with DMK, AIADMK Ahead of TN Polls
Premallatha Vijayakant rejects claims of parallel alliance talks, saying power-sharing decisions will come after election results.
In a Chennai press conference, DMDK general secretary Premallatha Vijayakant dismissed rumors that her party was negotiating with both DMK and AIADMK for a sharing of power ahead of the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections. She said such an arrangement could be ideal, but it would be decided only after the election results are declared and the people’s mandate is known.
She noted that senior leaders from all three major fronts — DMK's Velu, AIADMK's Palaniswami, and BJP's Nagendran — had already clarified that there were no talks with the DMDK at this stage, and questioned how the rumor gained traction. The DMDK, she asserted, will be part of the alliance that forms the next government.
Responding to questions on power-sharing, Premallatha stated that while an equitable distribution of portfolios would be ideal, any such decision would follow the outcome of the vote. The comment underscores the ongoing chatter about pre-poll coalitions in a tightly contested state.
