Political Shakeup: Another Leader Exits Tamil Nadu BJP, Joins TVK!

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Tamil Nadu is experiencing significant internal tremors as another prominent figure, former MLA AG Sampath, has announced his departure from the party. This development comes just days after former state chief K. Annamalai also exited the BJP, making it a challenging period for the party in the state.

Unlike Annamalai, who has launched his own political movement called "Idhu Namma Iyakkam" (This Is Our Movement), Sampath has chosen to align himself with actor Vijay's newly formed Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK). This move signals a potential realignment of political forces within Tamil Nadu.

Sampath cited a critical lack of internal democracy within the BJP and the party's failure to connect with the sentiments and aspirations of the Tamil Nadu populace as his primary reasons for leaving. He expressed that he had initially joined the BJP with the belief that it would work for the welfare of Tamil Nadu and bring positive change, largely influenced by Annamalai's presence.

According to Sampath, his resignation became "inevitable" after Annamalai, whom he had followed into the BJP, decided to quit. He claimed that the party had not only hurt Annamalai emotionally but also caused considerable hardship to party functionaries like himself. "There is no democracy within the BJP today, and the party has failed to understand the sentiments and aspirations of the people of Tamil Nadu," Sampath stated, emphasizing his unwavering loyalty to Annamalai.

In response to these exits, Tamil Nadu BJP President Nainar Nagendran urged party cadres not to leave, characterizing the BJP as a "huge party" and asking them to maintain faith in Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
