Love, Likes and Work-Life Blur
Love, Likes and Work-Life Blur
The blur of modern love + work. The brand collab pressure layered onto personal choices. The conflict about kids as the ultimate “content vs. life” question.
INT. AIRPORT LOUNGE - EVENING.
Crowds, screens, luggage. A couple sits with coffee cups, ring light poking out of one bag, camera tripod poking out of the other.
MEERA (late 20s, fashion Instagrammer, Barbiecore meets quiet luxury aesthetic, perfect brows, AirPods in):
Only 20K likes on my lehenga selfie. Wild!
KABIR (late 20s, tech YouTuber, black hoodie and white sneakers, scrolling YouTube analytics):
You know what’s wild? We’re arguing about Bali versus Italy and neither of us has said the word “holiday” without the word “content” attached.
MEERA:
That’s because holidays are content. Ravioli doesn’t pay rent. Reels do.
KABIR:
But what if we just… went somewhere without hashtags? No drone shots, no “What’s in My Beach Bag” reel, no ten-minute “Day in the Life” vlog. Just us.
MEERA (smirks):
And miss the brand deal sitting in my inbox? You saw the email. Couple content. Big money. They want us.
KABIR:
They want you. I’m just the soft launch in your grid, remember?
MEERA:
Soft launch is strategy. I don’t owe the internet my relationship rollout. You wanted to announce us to your subscribers in that beta app review video. I didn’t stop you.
KABIR:
No, but it feels like you stopped me. Like I’m in beta while your summer dresses get a full release.
(Beat. Both sip coffee, eyes not meeting.)
KABIR (gently):
I was thinking… like, someday, maybe, I’d like the grid to have more than beaches and sponsored bikinis. Maybe… a kid.
MEERA (snaps, then softens):
Kabir. You know that’s not my picture. I don’t want parenting. I don’t even want the conversation.
KABIR:
You don’t want it, or you don’t want it on Instagram?
MEERA:
Both. But mostly… I don’t want to blur the only life I have into someone else’s.
KABIR (sighs):
But isn’t that what we’re already doing? Blurring? Your work is our dinner. My analytics are our pillow talk. We fight about “deliverables” more than we fight about laundry.
MEERA (quiet, almost whisper):
At least we get paid for it.
(Silence. A boarding call echoes. Meera’s phone buzzes: “URGENT - brand team needs confirmation on couple collab.” She looks at it. Then at him.)
KABIR:
So, spaghetti or ravioli?
MEERA (soft smile, almost sad):
Whichever one looks better in the thumbnail.
