Russell Brand Faces New Rape and Sexual Assault Charges in England
Two more women come forward as Russell Brand faces new rape and sexual assault charges, adding to a six-count case with upcoming court dates in London.
Two new rape and sexual assault charges have been filed against Russell Brand in England, expanding a case that already included multiple counts. The charges involve two additional women and will be added to the five counts previously facing the comedian, actor and TV host. The new accusations span alleged incidents between 1999 and 2005. Brand is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on January 20 to answer the new charges, with a trial set for June 16 at Southwark Crown Court. He has already entered not guilty pleas to the earlier charges and is being held on conditional bail with the obligation to inform police of his whereabouts. A number of the prior charges include two counts of rape, one of indecent exposure, and two of sexual assault, all connected to separate alleged incidents.
The Metropolitan Police say the investigation remains ongoing and detectives are urging anyone affected by the case, or anyone with information, to come forward. Brand is British by birth but has spent much of his time residing in Florida, and he is required to attend court hearings as the legal process unfolds.
