Counter-terror investigators are examining whether a sequence of arson attacks against Jewish sites in north London are connected to Iranian proxies, with officials noting that some online posts have claimed responsibility from Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamia. The investigation follows a string of incidents over the past month that have raised concerns about anti-Semitic hate and potential foreign influence in extremist activity.
On March 23, four Jewish community ambulances operated by Hatzola were torched in Golders Green. A Telegram video circulated showing a map of where the ambulances were kept and claimed links to the alleged group. This attack prompted urgent questions about security for community services and the vulnerability of faith-based facilities.
On April 15, authorities reported attempted arson at Finchley Reform Synagogue and near the offices of a Persian-language media company, Volant Media, the parent of Iran International. Bottles believed to contain petrol were placed near the synagogue in Fallow Court Avenue, and two people in dark clothing and balaclavas were spotted approaching but neither bottle ignited. Hours later, an ignited container was thrown toward Volant Media’s car park, where it burned out without injuries. Investigators described the suspects leaving in a black four-wheel-drive vehicle.
On April 18, items were found near the Israeli embassy in central London, adding to the pattern of incidents being reviewed by police as potential links to the broader counter-terror operation.
While the public is urged to remain vigilant, officials say there have been no reported injuries so far and the investigations continue to determine whether these attacks are coordinated, opportunistic, or tied to external entities seeking to exploit tensions surrounding the Iranian regime.
