India Attends Trump's Gaza Peace Board as Observer in Washington
MEA reiterates India's Gaza stance as it attends Trump's Board of Peace in Washington as an observer, aligning with UNSC 2803.
New Delhi reported that India participated, as an observer, in the inaugural meeting of the newly formed Board of Peace in Washington, DC, held at the Trump Institute of Peace. The Indian embassy's chargé d'affaires Namgya Khampa represented India, with attendance strictly in an observer capacity.
At the weekly briefing in New Delhi on February 20, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal reiterated India's position on the Gaza humanitarian and political crisis, noting New Delhi's welcome for the Gaza Peace Plan proposed by President Donald Trump and alignment with UNSC Resolution 2803, which endorses a Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict. He stressed India's commitment to multilateral peace efforts as part of these discussions.
The meeting in Washington also featured Trump’s rhetoric on South Asian security, including claims that his personal intervention helped prevent a broader India-Pakistan conflict during Operation Sindoor in May 2025. While India engaged with the broader peace initiative, the MEA emphasized that New Delhi attended as an observer rather than a BoP member.
MEA's remarks underscored India’s cautious but engaged approach to international conflict resolution, signaling support for negotiated, multilateral processes while reiterating humanitarian relief and political stabilization for Gaza.
