Non-Bailable Warrant Issued for LeT Founder Hafiz Saeed!

A significant development unfolded today as a special National Investigation Agency (NIA) Court in Jammu issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) founder Hafiz Muhammad Saeed. This warrant targets one of India's most wanted terrorists, accusing him of providing weapons, money, and strategic directions to terrorists operating in the Kashmir valley.

The court's decision comes after the NIA moved an application for the warrant under Sector 75 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). The order explicitly states,

Keeping in view the fact that the accused person is at large and the investigating agency has not been able to procure his attendance ordinarily, this motion is allowed.

The warrant has been forwarded to the DIG, NIA Jammu, for execution, emphasizing Saeed's current status as an absconding accused and a designated terrorist under the IVth schedule of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).

According to the NIA, Saeed, who is the amir/chief/founder of the proscribed terrorist organization LeT, is operating from Pakistan. The agency highlighted that information suggests he is deliberately evading arrest to escape legal proceedings. This warrant aims to initiate further proceedings in the matter, bringing closer the possibility of justice for his alleged involvement in terror activities.

The context for this warrant stems from a case registered earlier this year. During a routine check at Gujar Tent Pandach in Ganderbal, J&K Police arrested an individual named Mohammad Naqeeb Bhat, a resident of Srinagar. During his personal search, authorities recovered a Chinese grenade and 15 live rounds and cartridges.

Bhat failed to provide any valid justification for possessing these arms and ammunition.

Subsequently, FIR No. 24/2026 was registered against Bhat under Section 23 of UAPA, Section 7/25 of the Arms Act, 1959, and Section 4 of the Explosive Substance Act, 1908. The investigation into this case has since revealed that arrested Pakistani terrorists have been found to be associated with LeT and The Resistance Front (TRF), further linking Saeed to the broader network of terror in the region.

This warrant marks a critical step in the ongoing efforts to dismantle terror networks and hold their leaders accountable.
