Two key figures in Reform UK, James Orr and Dan Jukes, have stepped down from their roles following a bombshell undercover investigation that exposed allegations of breaches in political donation rules. The resignations occurred on Friday morning, just a day after the party's conference commenced in Birmingham, sending ripples through the UK political landscape.

The controversy stems from a Channel 4 News investigation, which claims Reform UK accepted funding from an American firm to commission three polls earlier this year, costing an estimated £32,500. The purported donors were, in fact, undercover reporters posing as an American financier and his UK-based son.

Under UK law, foreign companies are not permitted to fund political parties, including for services like studies and research, making such an acceptance a potential criminal offense.

Rival parties have reportedly escalated the matter to the police, calling for a thorough investigation.

Nigel Farage, the leader of Reform UK, has vehemently denied any wrongdoing, stating that the party has "broken no laws" and has not "taken any dodgy money." However, the departure of his two close allies underscores the seriousness of the allegations.

Lee Anderson, chairman of Reform UK, reacted to the resignations by asserting there was "no chance" that Orr and Jukes would return to the party. This stance, however, was not entirely echoed by deputy party leader Richard Tice, who told the BBC that they should "wait and see what the investigation says," leaving open the possibility of their return depending on the outcome.

Dan Jukes, a long-term aide to Mr. Farage, served as the party's media chief and director of communications. His association with Farage spans over a decade, including roles during his time in the European Parliament and with the Leave.EU campaign.
