Sir Rod Stewart is on the mend and set to “come back stronger than ever” following a recent heart operation, according to his wife, Penny Lancaster. The health update comes after the 81-year-old music icon underwent a coronary stent procedure, leading to the cancellation of his 2026 US tour, which was originally scheduled to run through September. The singer, known for his energetic “One Last Time” tour, announced a four-week recovery period.

This decision impacted scheduled performances across Ohio, Illinois, Mexico, and a six-night residency at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas.

Lancaster, 55, conveyed Sir Rod's immense gratitude for the “wonderful well wishes and support” he's received and his eagerness to reunite with his fans.

Explaining the doctor's orders to postpone the tour, Lancaster highlighted her husband's famously vigorous stage presence. “He doesn't just sit down on a stool or behind a piano,” she explained, detailing how Rod “runs around for nearly two hours with four different costume changes.” She vividly compared his performance style to “a boxer coming out of his dressing room” or “a horse coming out the blocks,” emphasizing his non-stop, 100-miles-an-hour energy.

Given this high intensity, the medical team advised caution. While Rod is “back at full speed in his day-to-day activities,” including gym workouts, the tour cancellation was a necessary precaution. Lancaster noted that Sir Rod was “devastated” by the need to cancel but understands that prioritizing his health is paramount for a full recovery and future performances.
