Modi lauds tribal heroes, slams Congress in Gujarat rally
PM Modi accuses Congress of neglecting tribal communities while unveiling ₹9,700 crore in Gujarat and expanding sickle cell screening across the country.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke at Dediapada in Gujarat's Narmada district on the 150th birth anniversary of tribal icon Bhagwan Birsa Munda, asserting that tribal freedom fighters were largely overlooked after independence in favor of a few families.
Modi argued that the NDA's sweeping victory in Bihar shows voters rejecting caste-driven political narratives, and he credited his government with expanding medical services in tribal areas, including a nationwide campaign against sickle cell disease in which six crore tribal men and women have already been screened.
During his day-long Gujarat visit, he inaugurated and laid foundation stones for projects worth over ₹9,700 crore, highlighting the contributions of tribal leaders such as Govind Guru, Raja Roopsingh Nayak, Motilal Tejawat, and Dashriben Chaudhary and stressing that tribals’ role in India's freedom struggle deserves full recognition.
He reiterated a commitment to healthcare, education, and sports, and noted that Birsa Munda's legacy is being celebrated as part of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas, urging continuous development while ensuring the community receives due credit.
He also described the ongoing national sickle cell screening drive and promised continued efforts to reach more tribal communities, painting the broader vision of inclusive growth.
