New Delhi hosted a one-sided T20 World Cup affair as India thumped Namibia by 93 runs, sealing their second consecutive win in the group stage. Asked to bat first, India posted 209 for nine in 20 overs, powered by Ishan Kishan's 61 off 24 and Hardik Pandya's 52 off 28, with Shivam Dube contributing 23 off 16. Sanju Samson had earlier given India a quick start with 22 off eight, and Kishan reached his fifty in 20 deliveries before being dismissed by Erasmus on the very first ball of his innings. The Indian innings accelerated after Kishan fell, as Pandya and Dube stitched a crucial 81-run partnership for the fifth wicket, turning the momentum in India’s favor.
Namibia’s chase never really gathered pace as they were bowled out for 116 in 18.2 overs. Louren Steenkamp top-scored with 29, while Varun Chakravarthy was superb with figures of 3 for 7 in two tidy overs. India's bowling unit, anchored by Chakravarthy, kept a tight lid on the run-rate, and the fielding complemented the effort as the chase fizzled out well short of the target.
The result also highlighted Kishan’s historic milestone in T20 World Cups, with the Indian wicketkeeper becoming the first to reach a fifty in the tournament for his country. India’s two wins to start the campaign have set a confident tone ahead of a high-profile showdown against Pakistan in Colombo.
