Mr. Pradhan stepped down on Saturday, July 25, 2026, amidst growing protests and pressure surrounding the NEET paper leak controversy. Shah praised this move, stating it exemplifies the party's dedication to its core values.
In a late-night post on X, Shah reiterated the Modi government's stance, asserting that it "respects the sentiments of the country's youth and is committed to implementing the necessary reforms against paper leaks." He commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decisions to ensure strict punishment for those responsible for these leaks, calling them praiseworthy. The Home Minister expressed full confidence that these measures would bring "complete justice for the students who succeeded in the NEET examination."
Shah also took the opportunity to laud Mr. Pradhan's tenure, noting his significant contributions to the education sector. These included vital reforms in the effective implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP), facilitating examinations in mother tongues, expanding PM SHRI Schools, promoting digital education, fostering skill development, and strengthening industry-academia coordination. Shah emphasized that Pradhan's efforts towards creating a more inclusive and student-centric examination system were particularly noteworthy, viewing his work as a testament to the resolve of making India a developed nation.
