Drunk cop rammed SUV into bikes in MP, teacher killed; son loses legs
A suspended ASI in Neemuch allegedly rammed his SUV into motorcycles, killing a college teacher and injuring his son, who later had both legs amputated; investigation underway.
A Madhya Pradesh policeman allegedly rammed his SUV into multiple motorcycles near Bhadbhadia village on the Neemuch-Jawad road, killing a college teacher and injuring several others on Friday night. The incident occurred in Neemuch district and involved a private Bolero driven by the officer, identified as sub-inspector Manoj Yadav, in his 50s.
The deceased has been named Dasharath Singh, 42, a college teacher. His 10-year-old son Harshit suffered grievous injuries and had to have both legs amputated to save his life. His wife Lalita and daughter Jaya were also injured, and another motorcyclist, Bhupaal Singh, was hurt as well. Several motorcycles were damaged in the crash.
Yadav has been suspended and was produced in court on Saturday, where he was granted bail. Medical reports to determine whether intoxication contributed to the crash are awaited.
Relatives of the deceased protested, demanding strict action and accountability. A case has been registered and investigators are examining the circumstances surrounding the crash.
The incident has reignited calls for enhanced road-safety measures and sobriety checks on highways in the region.
