Revanth Reddy to Visit Osmania University on Dec 10
Hyderabad: CM Revanth Reddy will meet OU students, faculty and alumni on Dec 10, tying Telangana's 16th statehood anniversary to higher-ed reforms.
The Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy will visit Osmania University on Wednesday for a key interaction with students, faculty and alumni. The visit carries symbolic weight as Telangana marks the 16th anniversary of the announcement to carve out Telangana as a separate state on December 9, 2009.
The visit comes at a time when the government is focusing on higher education reforms and campus infrastructure, with OU at the center of these efforts. He will deliver his address from outside the entrance of the Arts College — the OU College of Arts and Social Sciences — a symbol tied to the separate statehood movement led by students. It was during that earlier visit that the ₹1,000 crore development fund was announced.
Officials say Mr. Reddy will begin his visit with a campus tour, including inspections of renovated hostels and the proposed digital learning hub. Announcements relating to faculty recruitment, expansion of postgraduate programmes, and stronger industry-academia collaboration may also be included in his address.
Meanwhile, student unions and faculty associations are preparing memoranda highlighting long-pending issues such as library resources, campus improvements, diet and hostel conditions, and enhanced safety measures for students.
The visit underscores Osmania University’s symbolic status in Telangana’s history and its role as a potential hub for a world-class university if the reform agenda moves forward as planned.
