In one particularly distressing video, three young women are seen crying after missing their opportunity to appear for the examination in Bengaluru, Karnataka. An X user highlighted the plight of one of these students, claiming she had previously scored over 680 out of 720 marks in an earlier NEET attempt but was still barred from the re-NEET for allegedly arriving late. Another powerful video shows a father repeatedly hitting his head against a gate before collapsing, reportedly after his daughter was denied entry. He is later seen lying on the ground, visibly distraught.
The NEET examination in Bengaluru regrettably coincided with a Congress event held at Palace Grounds, celebrating the swearing-in of the newly appointed Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee chief, BK Hariprasad. This unfortunate timing led to severe traffic congestion, with several students and their parents alleging that delays caused by the event prevented candidates from reaching their examination centers on time. Many arrived after the gates had closed at 1:30 pm.
Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya publicly criticized the Congress party for scheduling a rally on such a crucial examination day. However, reports also noted that a direct link between the political event and the specific delays could not be independently established. Despite this, crying parents and guardians expressed their outrage, pointing out that everyone across India was aware of the NEET re-examination being conducted on June 21st, making the timing of the rally highly questionable. The incidents have ignited a widespread debate on the balance between administrative rules, unforeseen circumstances, and the future of thousands of aspiring medical professionals.
