Sir Paul McCartney Dishes on Taylor Swift Wedding Gig & Larry David Ban!
Beatles legend Paul McCartney reveals why he serenaded Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce at their wedding, and the hilarious reason he banned Larry David from his shows!
Music legend Sir Paul McCartney recently pulled back the curtain on some fascinating moments from his life, including performing at pop superstar Taylor Swift's wedding and a hilarious - yet firm - decision to ban comedian Larry David from his concerts. McCartney shared these anecdotes during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Perhaps the most talked-about revelation was McCartney's performance at the much-anticipated wedding of Taylor Swift and NFL star Travis Kelce. While details of the ceremony have been kept under wraps, McCartney confirmed he sang The Beatles' classic, “I Want to Hold Your Hand.” He hadn't played the song live since 1964, making this a truly special occasion.
When asked why he decided to perform, his answer was simple: “She asked me to do it.” Swift herself requested the specific song, and McCartney even had her join him on stage to serenade her new husband. “I said, 'You should sing along, and you should sing it to your man,'” he recalled telling her.
But the wedding wasn't the only topic.
McCartney also recounted a comical encounter with Curb Your Enthusiasm creator Larry David.
It seems David had been invited to one of McCartney's concerts, but when the iconic “Hey Jude” came on, David famously refused to join in the traditional “Na na na” chant. McCartney pressed him on it afterward, asking, “How come Larry?” David's deadpan response was quintessential Larry: “You think I'm gonna 'Na na na'?
What kind of person do you think I am?” When Kimmel asked if David would ever be invited to another show, McCartney's reply was unequivocal: “Never.” This interaction has sparked laughter among fans, highlighting David's notoriously curmudgeonly persona. During his lively chat with Kimmel, McCartney also touched upon other projects, including a special edition of The Boys of Dungeon Lane, a recent duet with Ringo Starr, and his Wings documentary Man on the Run.
It seems even after decades in the spotlight, Sir Paul continues to share delightful stories that keep fans engaged and entertained.
