Massive Blast! Israel Destroys Major Hezbollah Underground Base in Lebanon

In a dramatic escalation of ongoing tensions, Israel's military has announced the destruction of a significant underground complex operated by Hezbollah in southern Lebanon. The operation involved the detonation of over 1,000 tonnes of explosives, targeting two tunnels that stretched more than 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) beneath the Ali Taher Ridge.

The sheer force of the blast was so immense that it registered as the equivalent of a magnitude 4.1 earthquake, according to data from the US Geological Survey. The immediate aftermath saw no public comment from Hezbollah or the Lebanese government regarding the incident. Israeli forces had recently taken control of the strategic Ali Taher Ridge last week, following months of intense fighting with the Iran-backed group in the area.

This region is part of a larger swathe of southern Lebanon currently occupied by the Israeli military since the conflict with Hezbollah reignited in March. Witnesses described a scene of chaos and terror.

Ahamed, a resident in Nabatieh, located approximately 6 kilometers west of the ridge, recounted the event to reporters.

He stated, "The sky lit up and about 15 seconds later we heard the terrifying sound." Ahamed further detailed how "The house shook all together as if it was literally an earthquake," leading to widespread panic with people screaming, children crying, and roads filling with cars as residents attempted to flee towards Beirut. The tremors from the explosion were reportedly felt as far north as Saida, a coastal city some 40 kilometers away.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released images showing a massive fireball illuminating the night sky. In a statement via Telegram, the IDF asserted that the destroyed underground infrastructure served as a critical command center for Hezbollah's Badr unit. It also claimed the complex housed a substantial arsenal, including dozens of rockets, missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles, anti-tank weapons, mines, and other explosives.

This was strategic infrastructure that was constructed over two decades, funded and planned by the Iranian terror regime,

the IDF declared, adding that "All of the terrorists who were inside the infrastructure were eliminated or fled." The military further stated that the destruction of this complex marked the completion of a mission to neutralize eight tunnels and establish a "security zone" in the region. This latest decisive action underscores the continuing and intensifying conflict in the Middle East.
