Patel's arrest occurred on Thursday, August 6, 2026, months after authorities traced Nida Khan to a house in the Marathwada city that was reportedly arranged by the corporator. Police officials stated that Patel had previously been summoned for questioning but failed to appear, prompting a special team from the Nashik city police Crime Branch to travel to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar to apprehend him.
Following Nida Khan's arrest—who has since secured bail—a case was registered against Patel and the owner of the house where she was found. The corporator was slated to be produced in court later on the day of his arrest. In a related development, reports indicate that bulldozing action has been initiated at Patel's residence and office, signaling further repercussions.
The broader investigation involves a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Nashik police, which is probing a total of nine cases.
