Gold and silver prices in India on April 16 remained largely steady, with only minor moves as global markets react to geopolitical tensions in West Asia and mixed signals from the dollar. Retail gold prices hover around ₹15,536 per gram for 24K and about ₹14,241 per gram for 22K, while silver trades near ₹2,70,100 per kilogram. Prices vary slightly across cities due to local taxes, transportation costs and jewellers’ margins, but the overall tone is cautious with steady domestic demand ahead of weddings and festivals.
City-wise, 24K gold prices show a narrow band: Delhi ₹15,551, Mumbai ₹15,536, Kolkata ₹15,536, Chennai ₹15,623 per gram. Analysts say Indian prices are influenced by international bullion rates, rupee-dollar movements, import duty, and seasonal jewellery demand. With wedding and festive seasons near, demand is stable, tempering any sharp price corrections in the near term.
