Karnataka leaders head to Delhi for CWC talk on MGNREGA overhaul

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has left for New Delhi to participate in the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting chaired by Mallikarjun Kharge. The session is significant as it will address the Centre’s move to rename MGNREGA as Vikshit Bharat – G Ram G and the proposal to raise the state's contribution to 40% from 10% for the scheme. Revanth Reddy is expected to explain how the proposed change would financially burden Telangana and discuss the practical implications for implementing the program in the state.
The CM is also likely to use the platform to discuss state-specific matters with the party high command, including the filling of nominated posts and the proposed expansion of the Telangana cabinet. These talks come amid broader national-level strategy debates within the party as it positions itself for upcoming political contests.
Meanwhile, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is attending the Delhi meeting amid ongoing chatter about potential leadership changes within the party. There are signals of growing support for him in Karnataka, and he may seek the high command’s nod for a cabinet reshuffle or for appointing a new KPCC president; however, sources note that the CWC is not expected to take up leadership-change issues at this stage.
As Delhi hosts these high-level discussions, political observers say the outcomes could shape party strategy and state-level decisions in the months ahead.
