Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut has extended a public invitation to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, urging him to participate in the 'Ram Raksha Andolan' set to take place in Nagpur on July 18. This significant protest, organized by the Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) faction, aims to draw attention to and condemn the alleged widespread embezzlement of donations intended for the revered Ram Temple in Ayodhya.
The 'Ram Raksha Andolan', which translates to 'Protection of Lord Ram', is a direct response to claims of financial irregularities and misappropriation of funds. Raut emphasized the seriousness of the allegations, stating that "crimes such as theft, robbery, and fraud are allegedly taking place in this very Ram Temple, and it is claimed that hundreds of crores of rupees have been misappropriated." Sena (UBT) head and former State CM Uddhav Thackeray has also confirmed his participation, highlighting the party's strong stance on the issue.
In a pointed letter addressed to CM Fadnavis, which Raut subsequently shared on his Facebook page, the MP reminded Fadnavis of his long-standing association with the movement to "liberate" the Ram Janmabhoomi in Ayodhya. Raut's invitation challenges Fadnavis, who has often spoken of his devotion, to join the current fight for transparency and accountability concerning the temple funds.
The controversy surrounding the alleged financial misdeeds gained traction last month, prompting the Uttar Pradesh government to take action. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) was constituted on June 13 to probe the serious allegations. Following the submission of the preliminary SIT report on June 23, an FIR was registered on June 25, leading to the arrest of eight individuals in connection with the alleged fraud. Even the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has reportedly expressed "grief" over these thefts, underscoring the broad concern surrounding the issue.
This development also sees the Congress party attempting to reshape the narrative surrounding Ayodhya, signaling the political ramifications of the donation row. The 'Ram Raksha Andolan' in Nagpur, CM Fadnavis's hometown, is poised to be a high-profile event, pushing for greater scrutiny and justice regarding the sacred donations.
