BSE Q2 PAT jumps 61% to Rs 558 cr; revenue climbs 44%
BSE posts strong Q2 with PAT rising 61% YoY to Rs 558 crore and revenue up 44% to Rs 1,068 crore, signaling robust trading activity and growth across segments.
BSE delivered a robust set of Q2 numbers, with consolidated net profit rising 61% year-on-year to Rs 558 crore, as revenue from operations climbed 44% to Rs 1,068 crore. On a sequential basis, PAT rose 3.5% from Rs 539 crore in Q1 FY26 and topline grew 12% quarter-on-quarter from Rs 958 crore. The gains came as the exchange benefited from stronger trading activity across segments and continued demand for its services to corporates.
Breaking down the revenue, transaction charges stood at Rs 794 crore in the quarter, up 57% YoY and up 8% QoQ. Treasury income on clearing and settlement funds was Rs 43 crore, down from Rs 45 crore in Q1 and Rs 63 crore a year ago. Revenue from services to corporates reached Rs 138 crore (vs Rs 105 crore in Q1 and Rs 119 crore in Q2 last year). In the equity derivatives space, the average daily notional turnover was Rs 164 lakh crore, against Rs 128 lakh crore a year earlier, while average daily lots traded slipped to 100 million from 153 million. Market capitalization of BSE-listed companies stood at about $5.27 trillion with about 22.3 crore registered investors. Total operating expenses rose to Rs 410 crore from Rs 359 crore a quarter ago and Rs 381 crore a year earlier, covering employee benefits, technology, regulatory contributions and clearing and settlement costs.
The results underscore BSE's role in India's growing markets, though some metrics warn of cyclical pressures and the need for sustained efficiency. Investors will be watching the next quarter for guidance on margins and broader market activity as the year progresses.
