Goodwin's Profits Soar 118% Amid Global Defence Boom! 🚀
Submarine parts and radar equipment maker Goodwin sees profits more than double to ÂŁ77.5M thanks to a surge in global military spending. Shareholders can expect bigger dividends!
Goodwin, a leading defence supplier based in Stoke-on-Trent, has reported a staggering increase in its profits, which have more than doubled over the past year. The company, known for manufacturing submarine parts and radar equipment, saw its trading profits surge by an impressive 118% to reach ÂŁ77.5 million for the year ending April.
This significant boost is largely attributed to a global uptick in military spending, driving strong demand for its specialized products.
The company’s robust performance also saw revenues climb by 27% to £280 million. A key driver behind this growth was the outstanding performance of its mechanical engineering division, which has been crucial in supplying essential components to both the UK and US navy and their submarine programmes.
As a direct result of this financial success, Goodwin has announced plans to hand more cash back to its shareholders.
The company intends to increase its annual dividend by 18% to 330p per share.
Furthermore, shareholders could see additional returns if Goodwin proceeds with the potential sale of certain parts of its mechanical engineering arm, a process the firm confirmed is “progressing well” with discussions underway with several interested parties.
Founded in 1883, the Stoke-on-Trent-based group remains majority-owned and managed by the Goodwin family, with its shares publicly listed on the London Stock Exchange.
Despite the potential divestment, Goodwin has assured customers, suppliers, and employees that business operations will continue without interruption.
The company anticipates completing the disposal process within the next twelve months and pledges to keep shareholders informed of any material developments.
