Moore's portrayal of Miss Shields, Ralphie Parker's elementary school teacher, endeared her to generations of fans. She was the teacher who famously delivered a "C+" grade on Ralphie's fervent essay about his Red Ryder BB gun and presided over the unforgettable scene where Flick's tongue got stuck to a flagpole after a "triple dog dare." Her performance in the 1983 holiday classic earned her a Genie Award nomination in the supporting actress category. She reprised her role in the 1994 sequel, "My Summer Story."
