The Strokes Release Slow-Burning New Song Falling Out Of Love
The Strokes drop the second single from Reality Awaits, a moody track produced by Rick Rubin with a groovy bassline and Auto-Tuned vocals.
The Strokes have released a new song, “Falling Out of Love,” the second single from their upcoming album, Reality Awaits. Produced by Rick Rubin, the track is slower-paced than the April single “Going Shopping” and is anchored by a grooving bassline from Nikolai Fraiture. In the lyrics, they take a moving-on approach from a lost romance. “Not a crime, not a lie/ Fallin’ out of love for the first time,” Julian Casablancas sings in Auto-Tune-drenched vocals. “Something’s flawed or by design/ But I’m fine for the first time.”
The new track arrives after a busy April for the band, who headlined both weekends of Coachella. During the second weekend, they displayed a video during “Oblivius” criticizing actions of the United States in Gaza and Iran, while showing images of world leaders allegedly targeted by the CIA.
During an appearance on SubwayTakes with Kareem Rahma, Casablancas named the “privilege of Zionists living in the United States” as one of his “most controversial takes.” Reality Awaits is set for release on June 26. In support, The Strokes will hit the road for a summer and fall tour beginning in mid-June. Tickets for all dates are available here.
