Kavitha Alleges Graft by Ex-BRS Leaders, Vows Full Inquiry
Telangana Jagruthi chief Kavitha accuses former BRS leaders of corruption and land grabbing, pledging a probe if she becomes CM.
Kalvakuntla Kavitha, president of Telangana Jagruthi, leveled a broad attack on former BRS leaders, accusing them of large-scale corruption, land grabbing, and the misuse of power during the nine-and-a-half years of the previous regime led by her father. She spoke to reporters from her Hyderabad office, asserting that irregularities had spanned the entire tenure and that a comprehensive inquiry would be ordered if she becomes chief minister one day.
She claimed that she had been receiving complaints almost daily about illegal activities by BRS MLAs and former ministers and insisted that the time has come to speak out. During the Telangana movement, she alleged, several BRS leaders extorted money from big business houses in the name of the movement. “I stayed silent all these years, but I will not remain quiet anymore,” she said, adding, “God willing, I shall become chief minister of Telangana one day, and, if that happens, I would order a comprehensive inquiry into all acts of wrongdoing since 2014.”
Kavitha rejected any personal financial gain from the government, saying she pledged her jewellery to run Bathukamma programs and that neither she nor her husband lobbied for favors after KCR came to power. She maintained that she did not earn a single rupee through illegal means and that attempts to shift blame onto her would not be tolerated. She also announced that she had served legal notices to BRS and BJP MLAs over what she described as defamatory claims, signaling a willingness to pursue legal action against critics.
The remarks come amid heightened political tension in the state, with Kavitha’s stated ambitions to lead Telangana complicating the BRS’s already intense grip on power and fueling a broader confrontation over accountability, governance, and the legacy of the KCR era.
