This landmark decision was celebrated with the launch of a flex-fuel Maruti Suzuki WagonR, alongside Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri. The announcement also highlighted Hero MotoCorp's introduction of two 100% ethanol-compatible motorcycles, demonstrating immediate industry readiness. Major automotive players like Toyota, Suzuki, MG, and Hyundai are poised to launch their own flex-fuel vehicles within the next 45 days, signaling a rapid shift in the automotive landscape.
The news has already sent ripples through the market, with Maruti Suzuki shares experiencing a surge of over 4%. This positive market reaction is attributed to the government's approval of E100 regulation, which positions companies like Maruti, with its recent launch of India's first flex-fuel passenger vehicle, as direct beneficiaries.
