Delhi Cop Fires at Delivery Agent, Killing One and Wounding Another
A Delhi Police head constable allegedly opened fire during an early-morning altercation, killing a 21-year-old delivery worker and injuring his friend in Jaffarpur Kalan.
A 21-year-old food delivery agent, Pandav Kumar, was killed and his friend Krishan was injured when a Delhi Police head constable opened fire during an early-morning argument in Delhi's Jaffarpur Kalan village. The incident occurred around 2:30 am on Sunday as the two men were returning from a birthday party.
According to police, the accused, Neeraj, allegedly fired from close range after an altercation in which he reportedly objected to them standing on the road with friends and asked about caste. Kumar was hit in the chest, and the bullet pierced through his body, also injuring Krishan who was sitting pillion.
Both victims were rushed to a nearby hospital, where Kumar was declared dead and Krishan is under treatment. Neeraj, reportedly posted with the Delhi Police Special Cell, is said by family to be a head constable, though police have not officially confirmed his rank.
Police have formed multiple teams to nab Neeraj, and investigations are ongoing to establish the sequence of events and the justification for the firearm discharge.
This incident has raised concerns about the use of force by police on Delhi streets and prompted calls for a transparent probe.
