DMK chief Stalin vows to take the party's achievements to every household and mounts a campaign push for 2026, challenging the BJP and Sangh Parivar in Tamil Nadu.
DMK president and Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Sunday declared that neither Union Home Minister Amit Shah nor the entire Sangh Parivar would be able to win in Tamil Nadu. Speaking at a DMK youth wing North Region meeting in Tiruvannamalai, he hit back at Shah’s remark that Tamil Nadu would be the BJP’s next target after Bihar, quipping with a famous movie line to underline Tamil Nadu’s distinct character. Stalin accused right-wing and reactionary forces of spreading lies and regressive ideas disguised as honey-coated pills, insisting the DMK’s ideology is an antidote to the BJP’s politics. He warned that if anyone approaches the state with arrogance, the DMK would not bend but would face them head-on. He added that the DMK would embrace those who come with genuine affection, while not yielding to threats.
Stalin asserted that the DMK is the only regional party waging an ideological battle against the BJP and that Tamil Nadu is the only state where the BJP has been unable to win. The remarks came as he urged the party to remain vigilant and committed to their political narrative, stressing that history will remember generations that answer its questions. The call to stay steadfast came amid ongoing tensions with the central government and a broader push to consolidate the party’s base in the run-up to the 2026 assembly elections.
In a separate emphasis on campaigning, Stalin told DMK cadres in Dharmapuri district and Thiruvannamalai that the party must take its achievements to every household to convert them into votes in 2026. He highlighted the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme, which now provides ₹1,000 monthly to women heads of families, expanding coverage to over 1.30 crore beneficiaries across Tamil Nadu. He also pointed to an RBI report noting Tamil Nadu’s high gross state domestic product growth. While allies like the VCK’s Thol Thirumavalavan spoke of protecting Tamil Nadu and its language in the INDIA bloc’s strategy, Stalin pressed to translate these developments into tangible electoral gains. The party’s drive to reach distant households was mirrored by event routines, including the wedding of former minister P. Palaniappan in Dharmapuri, where party leaders were seen rallying support for the broader electoral mission.
