Nine Die After Car Plunges Into a Well in Nashik District
A family of nine, including children, perished when their car veered off a road and fell into a water-filled well in Dindori, Nashik district, as rescue teams worked through the night.
A car carrying nine people veered off a road in the Shivajinagar area of Dindori town late Friday night and plunged into a water-filled well near a banquet hall. The occupants were returning from a function when the tragedy struck.
Local residents alerted authorities, and rescue teams including the National Disaster Response Force arrived. The vehicle, a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga with registration MH15-JS-1053, was lifted from the well using a crane after an overnight operation. Sadly, all nine occupants were found dead.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident. The deceased include members of Sunil Dattatray Dargode's family from Indor village. The group comprised both adults and children, with several of the children among the victims.
Residents mourn the loss as authorities investigate whether lighting, road conditions, or other factors contributed to the crash. The tragedy highlights the dangers of rural road conditions and the risks around open wells.
