In Anthoor municipality, the Left Democratic Front (LDF) secured unopposed victories in two wards—Kodallur and Thali—after the returning officer rejected the nomination papers of UDF candidates during a re-scrutiny. Officials found forged signatures on the UDF papers, and the proposers and seconders personally informed the officer that the signatures were not theirs, triggering the rejection. The development underscores a high-stakes scramble over nomination validity in Kerala's local elections and marks another boost for the LDF in Anthoor. The party has now seen five wards with unopposed LDF winners, following an earlier uncontested win by CPI(M) candidate T.V. Dhanya in Anjampeedika after the UDF candidate withdrew. In Morazha and Podikundu wards, LDF candidates had also been declared elected unopposed in earlier rounds, contributing to a pattern of LDF strength in the municipality.
