GST Collections Soar Past ₹2 Lakh Crore in September! 🚀
India's GST revenue jumps 14.7% to cross ₹2.03 lakh crore in September, fueled by strong domestic transactions and import growth. Dive into the latest figures!
India's Goods and Services Tax (GST) collections have once again demonstrated robust growth, surpassing the ₹2 lakh crore mark in September. The total revenue for the month stood at an impressive ₹2.03 lakh crore, marking a significant 14.7% increase compared to the same period last year.
This surge in collections is largely attributed to a healthy rise in domestic transactions, which saw a commendable growth of 10.1%. Furthermore, GST revenues linked to imports showed an even sharper increase, surging by 25.9%. These figures highlight the dual engines driving the nation's tax revenue.
The positive trend isn't uniform across all regions, with some states showing exceptional performance.
Maharashtra and Karnataka notably contributed to the overall growth. While some states like Assam and Manipur reported significant jumps in their domestic GST collections, others such as Jammu & Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and Tamil Nadu experienced declines.
These variations suggest differing economic activities or compliance levels across the country.
Year-to-date figures continue to paint a positive picture, illustrating a strong upward trajectory in GST collections when compared to the previous year's performance.
However, there's also a detail regarding refunds; GST refunds slowed to ₹27,001 crore in September, a 3% decline year-on-year.
This overall robust performance in GST collection provides a positive indicator for India's economic health and tax compliance.
